Frequently Asked Questions
Why are your prices so low?
I am able to keep my prices low by being creative in order to avoid high overhead costs. By trying to find as many free or inexpensive ways to run my small business I am able to transfer the savings to you with low prices (you're welcome). I know it may still seem expensive, but compared to $150 an hour, I'm really not that bad.
Whats up with the pyramid scheme nutrition classes?
Don't worry, its not a pyramid scheme! One of my main goals with natural nutrition is to help get accurate, reliable nutrition information to the public who has no background in nutrition, and classes are my idea to accomplish that. Sure, there are plenty of news and online articles about nutrition, but the information from those sources is often third hand at best. We've all played telephone before and seen how that turns out! Its the same thing with nutrition information; it might be partially correct, but you aren't getting the full story. My goal is to cut out the middle man and give you current, up to date nutrition information from primary sources. To make it affordable I came up with a plan that allows interested persons (hopefully you) to have access to a credible nutrition professional (me) to get current, unbiased information on nutrition (via a class). Sure, you could meet with me one-on-one for that, but lets be honest, even though I've cut my cost, its still expensive. Have a class instead and get your friends excited and educated about nutrition!
Do you really think trying to inexpensively helping people to not need you anymore is going to work as a business model?
Really, I was asked that by another small business owner. He was mocking me after telling him my goal is not to get people to need me for months, years or even for life (like he was trying to get his clients to "need" him), but that my goal is to help people make lifestyle changes as quickly and cost effectively as possible, and then move on with their healthy life. Why would I do such a crazy thing? Because I love what I do and I love to help people be healthy and happy.
Why do you meet with people in their homes?
First, its saves me the cost of leasing a building. Second, and most importantly, it allows me to see your lifestyle (scary, I know), and that helps me have a better idea of how to help you make healthy choices. We are talking about making lifestyle changes, right? What better place to start than in your own home. If you aren't comfortable with me coming to your home, that is totally fine! Come to mine!
Why is your website a weebly.com site?
Weebly is a free site that will allow you to build a website without having to know a lot about writing custom HTML (something you definitely don't learn when you get a BS in dietetics). Rather than pay a few dollars a year for a .com address and web designer I stick with Weebly so that I can pass the savings on to you, rather than the cost. Goes back to being creative to create savings. Thank you to Michael Lindow (artist) and Jared Stoddard (awesome HTML guy) for helping me personalize this free site!
Where do you get your information?
I like to look at Krause (a 15 pound book also known as The Dietitians Bible), Pub Med, sources from The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and other credible research journals. I love reading research articles and getting the most up to date information. That being said, I also use my professional judgement to determine how good a study is and how well support the claims are. If I think something is interesting, but not well founded, I'll tell you. If I think something is down right bogus, I will also tell you. I'm not afraid to challenge your nutritional beliefs and tell you what I think is most correct. Please don't be offended if I challenge a belief of yours, its nothing personal.
